Narrative Therapy

Trail into the forest with sunbeams shining thorugh the darkness

Narrative therapy is a unique form of therapy that looks at the stories that make a person who they are.

This considers one’s family and friends, social, sexual, and gender identity, and cultural and spiritual practices. Experiences become personal stories and people give these stories power which then become a determining factor in one’s choices in life. These stories then create a narrative in a person’s mind that can act as a lens in which we see ourselves and shape our identities. Narrative therapy uses these stories which contain so much power over one’s life to help you discover your life’s true purpose.

Narrative therapy is a collaborative and empowering process in which both the client and I are actively involved in this journey.

Narrative therapy separates you from your problem; for example, if you struggle with depression, anxiety, stress, it does not mean that you are these struggles. We externalize these problems and work together to understand them, learn from them and learn how their relationship with you affects your life. Narrative therapy recognizes that you are the expert in creating change in your own life, building on your strengths and eliminating what doesn’t work for you. This helps you become the best version of you and allows you to re-author your story, putting events into prospective and becoming the author of your own story.
